Chapter Philanthropy

Our chapter puts on many events throughout the year to support our national philanthropy, breast cancer awareness and education. We host many PINK OUT events at sports events at Southwestern, where we hold a bake sale and pass out ribbons and have some zeta merchandise for sale. In 2011, we hosted our first Strike-A-Thon event at Mel's Bowling Alley in Georgetown, which was a large bowling fundraiser to benefit the cause. It was extremely successful, and we netted over $1000 in profits for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation. Every year this event is a big hit. In October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the members of our chapter participate in Austin's Race for the Cure, Georgetown's Pink Heals event, and other Pink events in the surrounding community. In 2013, we hosted our first Big Man On Campus event! This all male pageant is a super fun way to raise money for our philanthropy. This event takes place in our University's ballroom and over 160 people attend. Last year, we raised over $1,100.

In addition, each member is required to fulfill 5 additional service hours independently, either in the Georgetown or Austin community, or at Southwestern University. We also participate in The Big Event every year, which is a city-wide community event. Lambda was the largest group that participated in 2015.We feel that community involvement is extremely important to a well-rounded experience in college.
